I have recently purchased a home with an end very similiar to this that will be available for purchase in about three months. It is in Mount Dora Fl. If you would like pics just let me know. Thanks and have a great night.
There are two of these houses on South Duke St in Durham, NC. There may be more, but these are the two I know of. You can easily find them with Google Maps using the search term “35.988255,-78.909038″.
The house — which still exists on Campbell Avenue in Lake Wales — was featured in Ripley’s Believe It or Not in January 1938. (You can find the cartoon here: http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=VmxWAAAAIBAJ&sjid=xuMDAAAAIBAJ&dq=morris-jones%20lake-wales&pg=5770%2C2112068.) It was built to fit a round dining room table! Search “Ripley Round House Lake Wales” and you can find other old newspaper stories about the house.
thanks for the info! what a great story. it must have been quite a table, though i assume the house outlasted it. a very cool-looking house.
